Introduction

We are hiring a skilled Project Manager with experience in ground-up building construction, interior fit and finish, and building renovations. The PM must have experience managing subcontractors, vendors and craft employees to successfully complete projects on time and within budget. The ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and submittals is required.

Job Summary

Provide overall contract management for construction, including direct supervision of Gallo superintendents, subcontractors, and other construction related personnel. Direct them in planning, coordination and execution of work to be on time and within budget while maintaining a safe workplace and promoting client relationships. Assure that projects meet all company standards for quality control.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact with the client and manage the construction contract
  • Utilize drawings and specifications to determine comprehensive project scopes for buying out the necessary materials and signing up subcontractors
  • Document and manage project correspondence including submittal management, RFI management, legal notices, with the Owner, Engineer, subcontractors and vendors
  • Ensure that work is being completed safely and that the quality of work performed exceeds expectations while managing any field issues that arise
  • Compile cost estimates for changed conditions and negotiate change orders with the Owner and Engineer, receive and review change order pricing with subcontractors
  • Develop detailed project CPM schedules and update weekly, forecasting the required subcontracted work force, as well as Gallo labor, heavy equipment, and rentals
  • Pre-plan and determine means, methods, materials, and tools required for completing work tasks

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in contract management for building construction, including exposure to pre-engineered metal buildings, CMU buildings, cast-in-place concrete foundations, and subcontractor management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading a team
  • Ability to travel within a 1.5 hour radius of Watervliet, NY
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and ability to complete an in-house jobsite safety audit
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project/Excel/Outlook, and other basic computer software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or related field
  • Exposure to construction projects related to new ground-up buildings, including excavation and foundations, and/or renovation projects including interior fit and finish replacements and building additions
  • Familiar with managing large projects with multiple subcontractors on site performing work
  • Experience working on hard dollar bid municipal projects
  • Background in construction cost estimating and change order negotiation

Project Coordinator / Administrator

Introduction

We are hiring a Project Coordinator / Administrator with experience rolling out company initiatives, tackling in-house projects, working with senior leadership, integrating new technology company-wide, and multitasking.

Job Summary

Provide support for our senior leadership, project managers, estimators, and accountants. Take ownership on new in-house projects design to continuously improve upon our existing company infrastructure. Ability to gather information from multiple departments to compile reports. Work within a team to roll-out new standard operating procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to roll out new company initiatives, including new technology, safety programs, quality programs, process improvements, etc.
  • Collaborate with different departments as required to gather necessary information to maintain and apply for additional company certifications, safety awards, and to update our company qualifications
  • Maintain our company’s online and social media presence by communicating with project managers, estimators and superintendents to obtain photos and detailed descriptions of the work we are completing
  • Organize meetings, including gathering documents and attending to logistics
  • Set deadlines and complete projects on time

Job Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in administration OR a 4-year college degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project/Excel/Outlook, and other basic computer software
  • Looking to grow within our organization and progress and tackle larger and more substantial projects

Estimator – Heavy Civil & General Construction

Introduction

We are hiring a skilled estimator with experience in leading municipal bids. Estimator will have experience with putting priced proposals together for projects containing self-performed labor and subcontracted scopes. The estimator must have experience managing the whole bid process, including determining means and methods for construction, completing detailed quantity takeoffs, communicating with and obtaining subcontractor and material pricing.

Job Summary

Provide overall bid management for hard-bid municipal and commercial projects. Take ownership of bids from $100k-$10million in size, including reviewing all general requirement specifications, and developing and obtaining pricing on all scopes divisions 2-50. Work with the pre-construction team post-bid to buyout scopes, obtain additional pricing, and complete preliminary submittals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact with the engineer and owner during the bid phase, engaging in pre-bid RFI process, walking the site pre-bid, and tracking addenda
  • Utilize drawings and specifications to determine comprehensive project scopes for pricing out the necessary materials and soliciting bids from subcontractors
  • Complete detailed material takeoffs utilizing estimating software, including earthwork and excavation, utilities, process mechanical, concrete, and general building work including metals, carpentry, interior finishes, etc
  • Compile cost estimate using the SAGE estimating software, completing both lump sum and unit price bids
  • Initiate the good faith efforts required in the bid phase to obtain pricing from M/WBE vendors, completing solicitation logs, developing M/WBE utilization plans, and applying for M/WBE waivers as required.
  • Develop detailed pre-bid CPM schedules forecasting the required Gallo labor, heavy equipment, and rentals, and determining subcontractor work timelines

Job Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience working for a general contractor as a project engineer, project manager, or estimator
  • 1-3 years of experience working as a lead estimator
  • Ability to travel within a 1.5 hour radius of Watervliet, NY
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project/Excel/Outlook, and other basic computer software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or related field
  • Exposure to construction projects related to ground-up building construction, interior renovations, pre-engineered metal buildings, water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, heavy concrete, and other complex municipal infrastructure work.
  • Familiar with a multitude of divisions of construction, including pricing sitework, concrete, masonry, metals, woods/plastics, thermal protection, openings, finishes, specialties, furnishings, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.
  • Experience working on hard dollar bid municipal projects
